Environmental
Sensors and DISD
One major collaboration between the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) and the 12 Hills Nature Preserve designed sensing equipment and the accompanying data visualization interface to help measure indoor or outdoor environmental data to help
foster curiosity and interest in
Youth Citizen Science for future generations of researchers.
Students are able to observe various environmental measurements from the devices installed across the 12 Hills Nature Preserve. They can then use the data visualization platform to analyze the data. This project, along with others spearheaded by the Simmons School’s Technology- Enhanced Immersive Learning Cluster (led by Dr. Corey Brady), intends to continue to revolutionize in the realm of immersive teaching and learning.
Advancements
in HPC
Improvements to our High- Performance Computing (HPC) cluster continue alongside the breakneck pace of advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning. M3 and the DGX SuperPod have both undergone upgrades
and additions for better support of data analytics, including ongoing efforts to implement Coldfront and XDMod. These two applications provide a platform that helps researchers and HPC administrators assign and manage computing resources, manage software licenses, and gather data to measure the impact of these computing resources on research output and outcomes.

To support Principal Investigators (PIs) in managing research funding, we are implementing a new portal providing up to date information
