November 13, 1893 letter from William McKinley to Bishop John
H. Vincent.
William McKinley (1843–1901) was an active Methodist layman who
had considered entering the ministry. John Heyl Vincent (1832
1920)
was a prominent minister, educator, editor, and cofounder of the
Chautauqua Institution. In this typescript letter McKinley thanked
Bishop Vincent for congratulating him on his recent re-election to the
office of Governor of Ohio.
