to Professor John Harden Hicks.
This letter recognizes Dr. Hicks (1887
–
1963) for his thirty-five
years of service to Southern Methodist University. An ordained
Elder in the Northwest Texas Conference, Professor Hicks taught
archaeology and Old Testament courses at Perkins School of Theology
between 1922 and 1957. After retiring from SMU, he taught at
McMurry College in Abilene, Texas, from 1957 to 1963.
