that eliminates duplicate content issues
caused by mixed-case links. The improvement
was seamlessly integrated into the content
management system, requiring no changes to the
workflow of site authors and editors.
12twenty
The Hegi Career Development Center, in
conjunction with school career centers,
transitioned from Handshake to 12twenty for their
career management system. This new platform
helped to simplify and modernize the career
development experience for current students,
graduates, and our career advisors in all schools.
From importing and checking student data to
assisting in finding and updating links to the
system across all SMU websites, OIT provided
guidance and support to enable a smooth adoption
for students, staff, and employers alike.
College Access
SMU’s College Access Programs partnered with
OIT to digitize more than 5,600 folders—over
100,000 pages—across eight federal grant
programs, replacing a decade’s worth of paper
files with a secure, searchable digital archive in
AdminImages. The project involved standardized
scanning and metadata entry, and the use of
Excel and Alteryx to cross-check records with the
department’s database. The result? A powerful
checks-and-balances system that ensures every
student’s electronic file is accounted for—and
an opportunity to clean up mismatches and
data entry errors along the way. After the
conversion, Director of College Access Dr. LaChelle
Cunningham reports, “Having our records
digitally organized not only improves our day-to-
day efficiency but also opens up opportunities for
research and collaboration.”
