renovation and reimagining of the newly named David B. Miller Business Quadrangle. This new addition to campus raises the bar for business education and professional networking. Our teams have worked with Cox faculty and staff to ensure that the underlying network, audio/visual, and facility security systems meet these new levels
of academic and administrative standards for fostering the next generation of business leaders to change our world.
Beyond University Park, the new Pegasus Park in the dynamic Stemmons medical and office corridor is now home to SMU’s latest research center for biotechnology. This exciting development houses the SMU Institute for Computational Biosciences
at Pegasus Park. Multiple SMU centers will work under the Institute, including the Center for Drug Discovery, Design, and Delivery and the planned Center for Computational Genomics, AI Institute for Precision Health, and Center for Metaverse Immersive Technologies for Health Sciences. This new development requires direct connections to SMU’s on-campus high-performance computing systems like M3 and the DGX SuperPod, and OIT
is currently currently providing 100G fiber link to achieve this.
Just a short distance down the boulevard,
the Armstrong Fieldhouse is undergoing its
own transformation. As part of SMU’s highly- anticipated move to the Atlantic Coast Conference, a new media studio is being created near the Weber Observation Deck to serve the higher level of production quality required by media outlets like ESPN and the ACC Network. Live television studios require vast amounts of high-throughput, low-latency network connectivity to and from multiple locations at once, and we stand ready to provide just that to power our future as a Power Four athletic program.
In all aspects of university life, our technology infrastructure plays a key role behind-the-scenes in keeping SMU moving towards its greatest potential and aspirations. As SMU continues to elevate its academic and athletic quality and standards, OIT is committed to an environment that matches and exceeds those standards for the long haul.
