A Welcome
From the CIO
The ever-changing landscape of technology brings constant opportunities for collaboration, skill development, and improvement in IT services. Whether participating in conversations on generative AI or working on major construction projects, our teams continue to respond to the needs of the
SMU community. We focused on areas of academic technology for student success, data visualization, and personal computer security. Our efforts this past year have improved network capabilities to handle large-scale computation and data analysis to support research. As new IT services were added, we also expanded our training initiatives to help the SMU community utilize the latest technologies and platforms.
While the technology itself is important, it’s working across multiple departments to better serve our community with technology that is a great source of pride. We have continued
to build collaborations across campus including communities
of practice for project management and artificial intelligence. These collaborations are key to the success of our university and a primary focus of the OIT team. In the coming years, we hope to build on our successes at SMU by fostering new partnerships with our peers and friends in the ACC.
Our annual report highlights a portion of the great work the OIT team has done over the past year. We are grateful to serve SMU by improving IT support to meet the evolving needs of our vibrant academic community. Pony Up!
