To answer this question, an analysis was conducted on the previous Fall course assignments. Course scheduling patterns, course capacity, and other variables were analyzed. Utilizing the data algorithm that OIT developed during the pandemic running on ManeFrame II, we were able to run several different simulations to determine that we could indeed accommodate the classes; provided schools make several changes within the scheduling period.
These changes include shifting courses away from the most popular 2 p.m. timeslot and better distributing courses across all days and times. Schools were also encouraged to distribute
courses more equally across all days of the week and adhere to standard scheduling patterns
as often as possible. The strategy identified a
key partnership for the Law School and the Cox Graduate School to help preserve the culture and services required for these two communities
of students. Knowing that we must share space to accommodate all courses, but that faculty strongly prefer to be within the buildings closest to their department, we had to balance the assignments with faculty preferences. In the end, schedulers were able to successfully build the fall schedule and accommodate all courses as the renovation began.
 Course distribution by start time
MONDAY/WEDNESDAY/FRIDAY (MWF) BY START TIME
TUESDAY & THURSDAY (T TH) BY START TIME
  Monday Wednesday Friday
Tuesday Thursday
By shifting a portion of the 2 p.m. classes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday (MWF) to 8 a.m., 12, 1, 3, and 4 p.m., and shifting a portion of the 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. of Tuesday & Thursday (T TH) classes to 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., all courses would fit within our existing classrooms.
