Dear Mustang Nation,
As this incredible journey begins, I want to introduce myself and let you know how energized I am about our future together. It is an honor to serve as the president of SMU, and I could not be more excited for our journey ahead!
I am deeply grateful for the Board of Trustees and Dr. Turner. I simply would not be in this extraordinary position today without their leadership and support.
Here is a brief video message that I hope you will watch, where I share what it means to me to join this vibrant University, community and city.
Over the coming weeks and months, I look forward to meeting many of you, whether you are a student pursuing your dreams on the Hilltop, a faculty or staff member shaping minds and advancing knowledge, a family entrusting us with your student’s future, an alum carrying SMU’s legacy forward, a donor or volunteer investing in our shared mission, or a leader in Dallas who will hire our talented students and partner with us on life-changing classes and research.
SMU has always been a place where excellence meets opportunity, where tradition embraces innovation and where every member of our community contributes to something greater than themselves. That said, for our University, this time is arguably unlike any other in its storied history. We have the ability to propel the institution forward with a new provost, director of Athletics and three new deans joining a strong, committed leadership team. Together, we will continue building on the palpable Mustang Momentum.
Your passion, dedication and spirit for all things SMU inspire me. I am glad that my wait to join you all is over, and I look forward to creating the future together.
