Welcome to our first SMU Corporate Engagement newsletter!
If you’re not familiar with our office, or it’s been a while since we have connected, Corporate Engagement offers you touchpoints across the University, ranging from talent acquisition to cutting-edge research partnerships, and from strategic philanthropy to continuing and executive education. In short, we act as the concierge for companies navigating SMU and for faculty, students and staff collaborating with business.
Each newsletter we will bring you important updates from the campus, spotlight a faculty member involved in SMU’s research efforts and let you know of upcoming events that may interest you and your company.
Happening Around Campus:
- Provost Elizabeth Loboa announced the new dean of the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering, Dr. Nader Jalili, from the University of Alabama. Dr. Jalili will arrive on campus March 1, 2023.
- This fall, SMU launched its third-generation supercomputer – an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD. See this story in SMU Magazine about its arrival. To learn more about high performance computing at SMU and to connect with faculty specializing in computational research, check out SMU’s Center for Research Computing.
- Provost Loboa released her 2022 Academic Report of campus activity and accomplishments, featuring updates about SMU’s journey to Carnegie R1 research status, new academic leadership on campus, updates about the university strategic plan, campus inclusivity initiatives, and more.

Faculty Spotlight:
On November 17, 2022 Dr. Suku Nair was named SMU’s Vice Provost for Research and Chief Innovation Officer. Professor Nair possesses decades of experience in higher education and at SMU, founding the University’s cybersecurity program and serving as the inaugural director of the AT&T Center for Virtualization.
