Marion Gross Sobol Cox School of Business 2011
Marion Gross Sobol, professor of Information Technology and Operations Management in the Cox School of Business, received her Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosphy from the University of Michigan. She also attended the London School of Economics. Before joining SMU in 1974, she taught at Rutgers and at Rider University. In 2002, Professor Sobol began a joint appointment in the Engineering Management, Information and Systems Department of the Lyle School of Engineering. She has published more than 85 articles. Among her three books is the first statistics text featuring cases in every chapter. She has received several awards for outstanding teaching and served as president of the Faculty Senate. She has served as department chair and on more than 25 doctoral committees. She retires as Professor Emeritus of Information Technology and Operations Management.
