Lynn Romejko Jacobs, professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Wellness (APW) in the Simmons School of Education and Human Development, joined the SMU faculty in 1980 as an assistant professor after earning a B.A. at SMU in 1974 and M.A. at SMU in 1978. In 1989, she received a Ph.D. in kinesiology from Texas Woman's University. She previously was the director of applied physiology and enterprise and was a cofounder of the applied physiology and sport management major, along with the wellness program. She has served as department chair in APW for the past 10 years. During her 42-year career at SMU, Professor Jacobs was honored with SMU's Distinguished University Citizen Award, given to faculty who have distinguished themselves through service within the University and in the community; the SMU Hope Award for teaching excellence; the Sam Taylor Fellowship scholarship; and the Outstanding Big Sister Award for Tarrant County. Her expertise and research focus on adult fitness and wellness, heart patient rehabilitation, and employee fitness programs. She retires as professor emerita of applied physiology and wellness.
