Charles Monroe Wood

Charles Monroe Wood, the Lehman Professor of Christian Doctrine at Perkins School of Theology, received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Denver, a Master of Theology from Boston University School of Theology, and an Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosphy from Yale University. He served pastoral appointments in Colorado and Wyoming before joining SMU in 1976. His campus service includes the Faculty Senate and many committees and task forces. He served as associate dean for Academic Affairs at Perkins School of Theology, and directed the Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences graduate program that awards the Ph. D. in religious studies. Professor Wood has published seven books and many articles. He was elected to the American Theological Society, and he now serves as president-elect, making him only the second person in the history of SMU chosen for that position. He retires as Professor Emeritus of Christian Doctrine.
