Meningitis Vaccination Requirement
You have been blocked from registering for classes for this term because you have not met the Meningitis Vaccination requirement.
Texas state law requires students who meet certain criteria (see next question) to provide documentation demonstrating that they have been vaccinated against Bacterial Meningitis within the past 5 years.
Students with the following criteria must meet the Meningitis Vaccination requirement:
All new students and returning students following a break in enrollment of at least one fall or spring term who are under the age of 22 on their first day of class
And are enrolled in an SMU course in a classroom environment in the state of Texas or at SMU-in-TAOS
Documentation must be provided at least ten (10) days prior to your first day of class.
The enrollment hold will be removed from your record once you have submitted proof of vaccination to the SMU Health Center in person or by mail, fax, or email, demonstrating that you have:
Taken the Meningitis Vaccination within the last five (5) years, or
Been exempted from taking the Meningitis vaccination due to health risk, or conscience, including religious belief.
The SMU Student Health Center has the bacterial meningitis vaccination available to students.
