Our goal: Send 63 Students on three Alternative Spring Break trips.
Alternative Breaks is an SMU student organization offering direct community service opportunities during academic breaks. Low trip fees make these experiences accessible to all students. These funds will allow sixty-three students to spend their Spring Break on service trips in Atlanta, St. Louis, and New Orleans. These students will work with organizations that support education, victims of domestic violence and victims of natural disasters.
Our goal: Purchase and upgrade projector systems for A-LEC classrooms.
The Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center, or A-LEC, provides academic support for current students and student athletes. The A-LEC needs two new projector systems for classrooms in the Paul B. Loyd, Jr. All Sports Center. These projectors will improve the delivery of instruction for the HDEV110 and HDEV111 classes, which help students build reading and learning skills and achieve greater success in their academic, professional, and personal lives.
Our goal: Award the Military Alumni Scholarship for the first time.
The Military Alumni of SMU (MA) affinity group supports military members within the SMU community. Securing these funds will allow MA to award the first Military Alumni Scholarship to a deserving student who has served in the military and is not eligible for 100% of the Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill. The recipient would be permitted to use these funds for tuition, fees, books, miscellaneous expenses and transportation while studying at SMU.
